Common Email Problems PDF Print E-mail

What should I do if I cannot log into webmaill?

The most common reason people fail to log into webmail (http://mail.pronetsweb.com/) is that they type the username in incorrectly. Most users only type in the first part of their email address. This is incorrect. When typing in your username in webmail make sure you are typing in the full email address for the username (ex. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it )

Another common mistake is that people misspell their password. Double check to make sure your password is typed in correctly. If you have to, type in the password somewhere you can see the password and then copy and paste it into the password field.

Clearing your browsing history may also help when you cannot log into webmail. Sometimes bad/old passwords are cached in your browser causing the browser to recognize those passwords instead of the password you are currently typing in. To clear your browsing history, go to Tools > Internet Options in your browser and click Delete… under Browsing History. Here you can choose to delete your temporary internet files, cookies, history, form data, and/or passwords. We suggest using the Delete all option unless you have a reason not to. After clearing your browsing history, try logging into sqmail.pronetsinc.com in a new browser window.

If none of these options solve your problem, then you may be using the wrong password. If this is the case, call us to request that your password be reset.

Why can’t I send/receive email in webmail?

There are a variety of reasons why someone cannot send/receive mail. The most common ones are so simple that many people fail to realize them. Two of these are spam filtering and large email attachments.

Sometimes email will be mistakenly caught in your spam filter with no explanation. You can check your spam filter by clicking on "Settings" and then "Spam Settings".  It is very important to keep your spam filter trained to avoid getting unnecessary spam, as well as, making sure “good” mail is not getting caught by the filter.  You can do this by moving spam emails into your spam folder (IMAP and webmail only). It is also important to clean your spam folder every so often.

Email attachments are also a common problem.  If the email you are sending/receiving has a large file attachment (greater than 50MB), it may not be deliverable.  If you have to send a lot of files or large files, we suggest compressing them before attaching them to keep their size down. There are many compression utilities out there for you to use.  Though most Windows operating systems have a built in zip compression utility, a good open source compression utility can be found at www.7-zip.org

Why Can’t I Send/Receive Mail in Outlook Express/Outlook/WindowsMail?

The same problems plague mail checked with a mail program as ones that are checked with webmail. So first start out by checking to make sure your mail has not been filtered out by your spam filter and that there aren’t any large attachments in the email that would prevent delivery.

If spam and file attachments are not the problems, try logging into webmail (http://mail.pronetsweb.com/) to see if you can send/receive mail regularly from there.  If you can send/receive in webmail then your problem is more than likely that you have an error in your mail program settings.

Step-by-step instructions to set up your email account in some of the more common mail programs are provided below:

Outlook Express
Outlook
Windows Mail (Vista)
